I have a 92 laser, and my oil filter blows off. I cant think of anything else but to change it to a 90 oil cooler. Does anyone else know of anything else i can do? Ive changed it to a mitsu oil filter. then I tightened the bolt down to 11 ft/lbs. I cant think of anything else?

The threaded part in the middle is replaceable. Is that stripped out or something? I have never heard of the actual filter coming off before.

are you sure its not the gasket behind the oil filter housing? If your blowing off your oil filter... you should fix that quick before you lock up your motor ;(

I say go for the 90 since I bought one for you and we know it will work.

Some body correct me if I am wrong but I thought the torq for the bolt is suppose to be at 30 ft/lb.

I have heard of the filter "spinning" off before. Eric Talon520 had this happen more than once on his rally car.

too much vibration going on in there with hard mounts and no balance shafts?

You could always do like we did racing motorcycles, safety wire it! Run a wire to something nearby, then to the filter. Put a hose clamp around the filter and wire to hold it in place. Now it can't spin.

Before I switched to the 90 oil cooler I would just put a dab of blue threadlock on the threads, stopped that problem.

Maybe I will keep that in mind with my new motor, that is the main reason my motor took a dump. I had to tighten mine daily, and it was stock, bs shafts still in and stock mounts. As it seems, just like many other cars (everytime i take that road there is at least one car on the side), mine took a dump on the by-pass by my house, (racing my brother-in-laws dsm, he won obviously) my oil filter spun off and left a trail of oil for a couple miles.
