I have everything out, and ready to get pulled except the shift linkage, Speedo cable and the mounts.

I cant figure out how to disconnect the shift linkage from the shifter base to get it through the fiirewall, how do I do this?

And also How do I dissconnect the Speedo cable from the transmission?

And last question is, where do I connect the engine hoist to pull the motor out? I found out where to connect it on the pass side, right by the VC, but I dont know where to connect it on the drivers side.

Also the drive shafts just fall out when I pull the tranny up? right?

thanks soooooo much

Pull the drive shafts before you take the engine out. It isn't real critical where the engine hoist bolts go either, just try to find a bolt with a 14mm head or bigger.

What year and model are you pulling the motor from? Is it awd drive or just front wheel? Last note the Vfaq has a good thread on removing the engine.

" I cant figure out how to disconnect the shift linkage from the shifter base to get it through the fiirewall, how do I do this?"

If you are just removing the engine you just disconnect it at the tranny.

You need to post more info about your car. That is a must if you really want help.

oh yeah, sorry its a 92 laser awd. I figured out how to get the shift linkage out so never mind that, and I also got the speedo cable off. Im hoping to have the motor out tomorrow!

Give me a call, Mines been out about 4 times. If your pulling the engine with the tranny at the same time, make sure the chain on the driver side is shorter than the passenger side because it will need to be tilted to get the tranny past the chasis. Also, watch the oil filter housing, it comes very close to the chasis on the driver side, you dont want to break that. Hit me up if you have an issue. I could always drive out and give you a couple extra hands.
