I have the 4 bolt out of my 92 AWD. I need to know exactly whats needed to do the swap so I dont send out any valuables with the chasis.

I have the diff, the axles, and the 2 cup things that are spindled into the hub. I tossed the bolts holding in the axles, they are trash. However, I kept the big bolts that mount up the diff.

Will the 91 driveshaft work without modification?

Thanks guys!

1) remove old shit
2) install new shit
The center drive shaft bolts up, and its not that difficult of a swap to do, just a pita at times. You need the diff, rear axles, cups, and any hardware thats worth a damm, thats it.

Thats the question.. what other hardware is worth a damn? Do I need anything or is everything else compatible in the 3 bolt rear end? ( mounting brackets and such)

Everything should swap right over. I did the swap last fall from a 3 bolt to a 4 bolt- dont even know the year-...

If you dont have enough bolts just go buy some at the hardware store. If you want stronger ones, get the heat treated style.

It was a PITA but just took patience and correctly lining up parts. One thing I remember that was a bitch was connecting the bolts that go in through the top. Theres not much room up there for a torque wrench and your arm. Have fun :)

Oh beleive me, mike is doing this. I dont have the tooling. I had a rough time just getting it out. I had no problem getting the bolts out of the top though? Is the bracket on the back side of the diff needed? Or is the 3 bolt one workable?

carrier, axles and cups are direct bolt in's, just went through this back this spring, It was surpisingly easy, hardest part is getting the carrier back in its home on the chassis, make sure you tighten the bolts on the top first, while its hanging down.
