Damn hackers...

Got a call from my credit union this morning saying as a precaution they're issuing me a new check card because of when that place was hacked into a couple weeks ago. I didn't want it cancelled right away because it would be quite an inconvenience, so they were just going to wait to cancel it until I got my new one. :mad: A couple hours later I get a call from Visa fraud prevention, and she runs over a list of transactions that had happened this weekend since Friday. A few were mine, but when she started listing off transactions between $200 and $500 :eek: I knew right away I was screwed. My card is now cancelled and I'm going to have to live for the next two weeks using a checkbook along with what little cash in my pocket. Lucky me. :(

Damn, that sucks. Can't they just put the cash back in your account though. What did they all decide to buy? What place was hacked? Just your credit union in general?

It was some huge company that deals with millions of Visa and Master Card transactions. Nothing was sent through to my card, there were just some attempted transactions to my card and they were "held" before being processed. I did some shopping on Friday and that had not hit my account yet either, but I told her those were transactions I did. The only things that seemed logical was that they were internet transactions, but with them being round dollar amounts in the hundreds seemed weird.

I am waiting to something liek this to happen to me. Citi Financial had a truck foll of paperwork containing financial info about their customers getting lost. Yup, a whoel truckload of paperwork just lost. Fucking retarded.
