With the hot weather my car has been getting really hot and I mean REALLY hot today I saw the temp gauge hit 210... and it has been acting really strangly. Then on my way home from a friends house I heard a loud clunk follow by some horrible grinding scraping noises, then the car died. I stopped immediately but I don't see anything visibly wrong, if I try to start up the car it makes the same horrible noises. How fucked am I?
Are there any belts off? The crank pulley could have seperated, the alt belt fallen off and the waterpump stop spinning.

oh so here is what i checked. I looked at the compressor wheel on the turbo, look and spun fine. i also checked the spark plugs to see if they got hit by something but they looked fine. all the belts were on and felt tensioned appropriately.
I think I may have thrown a rod or maybe my fly wheel exploded, I dont fucking know....

I don't know what it could be based on that but i wouldn't drive the car anymore until i could draw some conclusions. A $20 fix on something it may be could turn into several hundred or over a $1,000 damage.
BTW- 210 degrees isn't anything out of the ordinary. Start getting over 213-215+, then she's getting pretty hot.

Depends if it's a 1G or 2G. 210 is normal on a 2G but hot on a 1G.

its a 2g with a 6 bolt. I normally run around 190 and the needle was definitely over 210 but past that point its hard to tell cuz the next mark is 250

Does it even turn over?
don't crank it with starter, do it by hand and see how it feels..

Yes it does turn over. I tried it once after it initially died and letting it cool down for a bit. Still sounded like hell...
Haven't tried turning it my hand
