He's just starting out his schooling, in case you hadn't read the other threads....

That is why he was asking what classes he had taken. He is considering accounting and has taken several classes. Wondering what it takes to get your foot in the door. Sorry if he inconvinienceed you at all by having to post a reply for Alan.

No inconvinience. ;)

It just sounded like he didn't know he had just started school, that's all.

What it takes to get your foot in the door? Work through an agency is the best way, you have someone representing you and finding something that will fit you.

Yeah, I new he was going to start schooling so I wasn't sure how he was able to get a job in the field. I forgot about QPR. I have only taken 2 college accounting classes and am probably going to get an accounting agree myself also.

James, I first tired Account Temps. Worst experiance ever. They hype yo uall up and then nothing. They just left me hanging. I am now going through Ajilon and the girl there takes most of her work through referances. I would suggest her to anyone. She had 2 jobs line up for me even before she could verify referances and have me test on some stuff. If you want PM me and I will let you know how things go with the rep Monday on site and can get you some contact info.

Accounting major in school is just theories gear toward cpa....what you do in the work force (not cpa) work is different....

It is tough to get that first job in accounting...You will need to start somewhere at the botton...i.e. a/p...a/r..to advance in a big company..you will need a ba in business if you want make management...then you will need mba...if you don't have any of those...it will take allot more time to grow and get the pay...

If you are a software geru..i.e. ms access or ms excel...you will do good in the corp accounting world...Almost everything is simpler and systematic...

Temping is a good way to get the experience....also it is a good way to figure what you like and what you do not like in differ accouting jobs...also allot of temps services will not give you work if you do not know your accounting abc's...allot of times you will work as a data entry positions...and you would need to kiss some As s to get good work...

Good luck...hit me up if you need some help...I am an accountant... and is currently working for a United HealthCare...

Got final offer today to be directly hired. Full offer letter pending the drug test. Definatly excited! Pretty big pay jump, wasn't expecting it but it's more than most grads make in entry level positions so I can't complain!
