whenever I push the botton for the pass window to go down, it goes drop 2-3 inches, and then it tries to go down more but has a lot of trouble doing so, and after it goes down those 2-3 inches it cant go up at all without some one pulling it up with their hand. And it sometimes gets off track, when i move it up. When I took the door panel off to see if there was any obvious problem, i noticed two cables holding on the track, but the one on the bottom was very loose, I didnt check the motor, because i couldnt find my multimeter, but i think its fine. Do you think this cable could cause it to jump off the track making it real hard for the motor to pull the window down? can this cable be tightened or do I need to replace it?
anything else you guys think could be wrong with it?

thanks

Sounds like the regulator is bad, I'm not sure if the motor comes with the regulator as one part, but the motor should be fine on your old regulator.

I really doubt it is anything to do with the electrical side of things. The tracks wear out pretty quickly on DSM's. Check out the VFAQ's, I am sure there is a full deal in there. You need to buy a new track and follower.

I just want to clarify that when I say “regulator” I’m talking about the mechanical thing that the glass bolts to. And that sometimes the motor comes with the regulator.

Got a easy fix for you.....

Spray silicone spray in the tracks and work it up and down a few times. Try it and get back. Betcha it works fine.

I use the silicone spray on my passenger window, becuase it goes down fine but is a little slow coming up.

For a window that will not come up at all or go down, then you need to fix the tracks that are pinching the glass from the sides. Take off the door panel and adjust the tracks on each side and also the center piece that the glass is holding onto.

Basically follow that VFAQ.

I've owned over 8 DSMs and worked on nearly 100 in about a decade. And have never yet had to replace a regulator or 'adjust' the tracks.

I'm sure they are out there, but everytime....silicone spray works. Even for the ones that come off track. It's cheap and eventually you'll need the spray anyway.

A long time ago I gave up trying to make these damn power windows roll up. I've gotten used to just holding down the back of the window as it rolls up. The silicone spray crappy ass fix works for a day or two and then gunks up the track so it binds even harder than it did before. Of course YMMV.

I've found if you take the weatherstripping out from around the window and then roll it up it seems to roll up fine. This leads me to wonder if the rubber swells or something over time and leads to it binding in the front track. I've always wanted to try buying a new piece of weatherstripping from the dealer to see how that affected the binding. If anyone ever finds a permanent fix for this issue I'd be interested to hear it. But in the mean time, I'm content with a the two-handed power window roll up.

well I think I fixed it.
I sprayed some Silicone, on the tracks and that helped a little bit, but it still couldnt go up by itself. So I took the door panel off, and I noticed that the track thats towards the back of hte car was rusted like crazy on one side. So I took my flat head screwdriver and scraped all the extra rust off between the metal track and the rubber weatherstripping (For about 30 mins). And now it goes all the way up and down, by itself, but it still goes up slower than it goes down, but it works for a 4$ fix!!
