I took my 93 Awd 5spd to Sindley a few weeks ago for a basic tranny overhaul, and also had him install front axels, remove AC, and fix two oil leaks, wich one of the other is still leaking. Before the rebuild the car had a nasty loud type shuddering upon deceleration, and part throttle crusing. It was someting that was deffinitley not right. So i got the car back from Shindley last Thursday night, I left his house, the Talon no longer had the nasty shuddering like it used to, it was perfect. I drove about 25 miles or so to Maple Grove to make a pit stop at my brothers house to drop off some parts for him..i got off on Weaver lake rd. and get to the 2nd or 3 rd light in town, and then it happend..the noise came back!, it sounded like someting let loose.I called him right away and brought it back to him, He insisted it was NOT the tranny, he says its got to be the driveshaft, so the next day he replaced both carrier barrings, and all u-joints.. still the same!! didnt help one bit. Then he went on to say thats its my rear diff, or t-case, So by then I was pretty heated, i took him for a ride to let him feel the shuddering/whinning he just kept saying that its normal over and over..on top of that the clutch chatters like a S O B. it has a act 2600 & act street disk/and flywheel..my old 2600 that was in there before didnt chatter hardly at all.. the pressure plate was not replaced.. so anyway anyone have any suggestions on what to do..?

What is this sound? It could be the transfer case from the sounds of it. But if it ain't broke, don't bother. :) Unless its really noticable.

Well its quit noticable, something is deffinitley wrong, the only reason i dont think its the t-case is because the car did not make that noise the first 25-30 miles after the rebuild, now its back, and even worse.

I would best describe the noise as a high pithced whinning/grinding on decel, and part throttle crusing.

I will just say that Rick will defend his work to the death. As far as the clutch chattering, that should go away as the disc breaks in. Pop the car up on jack stands and see if you can get it to make the noise. You should be able to tell easily where it is coming from at that point. The driveshaft isn't rubbing on the exhaust, is it?

The ACT 2900/street disc I had Rick put in for me is perfect.. I'm sure it's not the install. By your topic it sounds like you're pissed with him, don't be. He did what he thought was right at the time, and he knows more than you about dsms; obviously since he's installing your stuff.

Josh took the car to Shindley based on my recommendation which right now I wish I could take back. Josh has his head on straight and is anything but quick to judge. His car is still having tranny issues. It is obvious gear whine and very noisy shifting. If I bought the car in the condition it is, I would likely have the tranny gone through. It is at best questionable. The way he dealt with Josh is also not acceptable, if something is messed up, which it obviously is, he should be backing up his work. I won't go through the financial side of this, but for what he paid, we could have sent him to shep and he would have been money ahead.

Everyone is human, mistakes happen, how you deal with it is what matters.

BTW, again I will say I don't hate Rick, in fact I find him rather entertaining. What I did learn from talking with him and watching him work at the shop on another customers tranny is this. We do things much differently, his methods are a bit too crude for my tastes but most of the time it seems to work okay for him. I think normally his motives are fine, I just think he has issues with being a bit arrogant and having trouble admitting fault. Like I said, nobody is perfect.

Jet, i kinda got that vibe also about defending his work,.. and im sure he has had many succesfull tranny overhauls. Im 99% sure the drive shaft isnt rubbing, Im gonna put up on stands and give that a shot to see if I can pinpoint exactley where it could be coming from.

Im not pissed at him, I just feel the end result of my overhaul could have turned out better, the tranny feels clunky and crunchy, the overall feel and performance is just not up to par.
