I have a 2g Magnus manifold for my 99 GSX. I have the stock 2g tb elbow and a redtop Optima battery. As it is, it's not gonna work with either that battery OR the 2g tb elbow. I'm not getting rid of the Optima. I have about 3.75" between the tb(where the elbow mounts to), and the battery, to work with. I mocked it all up at lunch and the tb elbow cannot point over to the passenger side whatsoever like the stock one does. I almost need a 90* that points straight to the front of the car. You also wouldn't be able to take the whole course of the 90 degrees either. You'd have to cut about 1/2 way into the 90* part to stay within the 3.75" spec. Does anyone know where i can get an elbow this tight? RRE has one but is nowhere near this tight. I could maybe fab one up but i don't have any flanges.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd hate to have to relocate the battery.

What kind of EMS are you running? Shane and I(and maybe Cher, don't remember), took out everything that was below the stock battery mount(Evaporator, etc.) and moved the battery down there. Then ran our piping above.

All the electrical is stock GSX if that's what you mean. I never thought of going lower with the battery. The Evaporator is in a different place on my 99 GSX than it was on the old '97 GST. GST=below the battery, mine i think is in the front of the car under the driver headlight. I'll eye it up tonight and see what i got for room as far as going down with it. I will post. Thanks for the suggestion.

Whether you want to or not, there are a couple of choices that you must consider since the plenum of the magnus sits about 4" lower than the stock manifold. You can try to relocate the battery down to the sub frame as Speedfreak mentioned or buy a trunk relocation kit and throw it in the hatch, which is what I did in my car. Another thing some people like to do is go with a smaller battery due to weight savings and compact size. I believe Odessey (sp?) makes one you could check out.

Does anyone have pics of the lowered battery mount? I thought of that too, but I always thought that'd be a great place to mount a water injection system.

I just checked out Odyssey batteries and they have one that would probably be perfect. It's 680 crank amps. They're on ebay for about $69+shipping. It's about 3.75 wide which would probably be perfect. Hate to give up my good Optima. I'm gonna check tonight to see about going down with the battery on my 99 GSX to see if there is room for it. I will post on that. Yes, a reloc would let me keep my battery but more expense i think not to mention time, which i don't really have as i got too many irons in the fire already on this car.

Yeah thats a brain fart on my part, Shanes was up front as well. There isn't much below the stock battery, on your car. But Shane just reminded me, that you could just get a Honda battery and that should free up enough space for you...

I went with the optima Yellow Top Type 51R, but eitherway you'll have to change the I/C piping. Unless you move it to the Trunk.

Thanks Brian... Yes, i think the Yellow's are slightly smaller than the reds. Well i scoped it out tonight and as far as dropping the battery down onto the sub frame forget it, if you have a yellow top Optima, 2g 99 GSX. You're dealing with the right motor mount in the way, a high pressure line coming out of the firewall which is i'm assuming the a/c, and the fuel filter. I'll have to get a slim battery or move it to the trunk area as suggested. I'm not sure yet what i'll do. The cost will be about the same. The Odyssey's in Summit are about $120 cheaper on ebay but not sure if they are rejects or something. This manifold just got a little more expensive.. :-(

If you move it to the rear, you need a cut-off switch on the back of the car to run at dragstrips. I just ran a backwards version of the Honda battery, when I first did my Magnus.
