Ok, so i'm replacing mine, one took a shit on me. I'll be checking them all, but I need to know a few things.

-I heard something about the bearing cap needing to be a certain torque. Anyone know what that is?

-I also heard something about there needed to be a set up of space between the bearings or something? I need to know all of this stuff. My Dad is the one doing the work, he knows what he's doing, he just wants to be A-OK on everything. So I just need to relay all of this info and stuff. Thanks a lot guys

One more quick thing, if your bearings dump on you, will you suffer a loss of power at all?

If your bearing took a crap, the crank will need to be polished at a minimum, if it isn't totally shot. How did you lose a bearing? Did you run it low on oil? I can double check the gap for the bearings, but I think it was .0021" - .0030".

I dunno how it happened honestly. I wasnt overdue on an oil change, and it wasnt really low. I went over a missing patch in pavement, then it started to rattle a little bit. It happened and I caught it right away, so i'm hoping that it's not too damaged. If your crank was shot the car wouldnt start or run right?

It would run fine until something came through the block.
