So, I had some fun last night. The short version is that I pulled a big V10 Excursion out of the mud with my little Nissan.
Here's the long version:
One of my co workers came over last night so he could pick up some firewood. They just tore down a house and cut down a big tree down the street. So he had his F150 with a trailer, and I had the Nissan. We get down there and there’s an Excursion already there. Didn’t really think much of it, because there’s a big sign that says “Free Firewood”, so of course there’s going to be other people there. It wasn’t a parking lot or anything, you just hop the curb, go over the sidewalk, and the firewood was sitting in a pile in the dirt. It wasn’t too muddy, but it was a little wet. But this other guy in the Excursion had pulled in like 20 feet from the street, and managed to dig himself in a rut trying to back out of there. BTW it was a 4x4 V10, probably around 6,500 lbs. or so. Anyway since my buddy has a trailer on his truck he can’t really tow the Excursion out unless he unhooks it, which would have been a PITA etc. So I decide to give it a shot. I pull out the tow rope, we hook it up, give it a few tugs, and she comes right out.
Here’s the funny part. This guy in the Excursion gets stuck in the mud while he’s out with his wife/GF whatever, and it just happens to be next to a Bobby and Steve’s. They have tow trucks that can get them out, but they were going to charge $120 or something to drive 50 feet and hook up a rope. So these guys that work there are out in back standing and laughing at the guy in the Excursion while he’s out on a date, stuck in the mud. Along comes a little import pickup, and pulls him out. IDK, it was just kind of a funny situation. But we got a free pitcher of beer out of it at least.
P.S. for anyone who wants some free firewood, there’s still a lot left. It’s just south of 58th st on Nicollet Ave. in south Minneapolis. Most of what’s left is pretty big stuff though. If you get stuck in the mud, just give me a call, I’m just up the street. :D
