My vote goes for either the Miata or AE86.

sc300 = not generic :) But it's definitely not for a Rally course.

but with the world's most power per liter motor in that car, you know fun is in there somewhere.
Considering there a more than a few DSMs on this board that exceed its power per liter, you must be refering to production vehicles only?

Hmmm, an evo 8 makes more HP/liter than the S2000.

Yes but I speculate ignoramus was talking about the most power per liter NA (thats Naturally Aspirated for you special kids) that the S2000 hyped back in 2000.
ANyone have any info on some of the suspension pro/cons to some of these cars. When I start looking (if I go to something RWD) then the 4 components I will be looking at will be how the transmission/engine handles higher RPM, braking setup, rear end, and suspension setup.
Right now I would say a 240 if about the only thing I have look a little more into.

What about an old 240/260/280Z? Parts are pretty cheap for those, a handful of the 280ZXs came with turbos. The 240Z weighs 2300lbs. Here are some specs of all the Z cars: http://www.geocities.com/~z-car/specs/
240's have independant rear suspension, come stock with an open diff on most cars. A few of them had a VLSD, but for the S13's I believe they were only available with the HICAS (rear steering) which most people get rid of anyway. Your best bet would be to get a VLSD from an Infiniti J30, or go aftermarket.
As far as brakes, they come standard with 4 wheel disc brakes, but they are pretty weak though. Fortunately you can get some 4 piston calipers from a Z32 300zx for the fron, and if you have enough ambition, you can get the rear 2 piston calipers to work as well. The thing about the rears though is that the 240 brakes just clamp down on the caliper when you put on the parking brake, and the 300zx brakes actually have a second drum brake that is used for the parking brake. It's just a little extra work to get it hooked up. You would also be wise to upgrade to the 300zx master cylinder, because the stock 240 one (which was designed for a total of 4 pistons) may have some issues with trying to fill 12 pistons.
I'll post some more info later.
