The other problem here is that a bank won't give you a loan over blue book value, and pretty much all turbo DSM's sell for over book. And for buying someone's modded car for way over book, you need a home equity loan, a pile of cash laying around, or a personal loan from a friend. I'd get a cheap car you can afford if your parents won't co-sign and do as others suggested here about building up credit. A good credit score will save you many thousands of dollars over the years.

Ha ha ha, your funny Eric. I am at Treasure Island working right now, and I know one thing. This place isn't here because people win all the time. Better luck next time.

This probably won't help you, but for others looking for an auot loan over blue book (I beleive the minimum loan is like $7500 which probably rules out most DSMs.), try CapitalOne.

Four years ago when they were "PeopleFirst" I was approved for like $17,000 for a '94 Stealth (they really didn't care what I bought). My bank would only do like $9,000. And they beat the banks interest rate too!
I'm not sure if things have changed but it's worth a shot.

I work at a bank. What's your debt to income ratio? Add up all your monthly bills and then add up your income. How much are you willing to put down on the car? Walking into a bank and asking for a loan for the asking price of the car won't always work. How long have you had your job? How long have you lived at your current residents? Do you own/rent, etc? What do you have for security that the bank could use for collateral? Try another bank if you have to but the above will most likely apply there as well.
