I owe this year, quite a bit too I might add. I need to change what I claim on my paychecks, its worked out close to even in the past but this year I have to pay abou ~$600.

Jet- you must have one helluva job to have paid that much in taxes unless it's a business. Wow! I don't know what i paid in but i don't think it was near that much.
I do alright, but I am not bankin' by any means. Like I said, I am getting $2,400 of that back, so I paid in $5,200 to federal taxes and I only had my house for 7 months or it would have been more back. Single people with no dependants get pretty hosed. I bumped my W-4 to 3 dependants so I should be closer to even next year.

Craig and Andy ;)

No, a house counts as about 2 dependants if you are single and have a big mortgage.

I haven't had mine done yet because I think I'm gonna end up having to pay in this year.

I paid over $5K in Federal tax, and over $2K in state taxes, but I also made over 10K more this year. Thankfully I do have my house, but is there anything else I can look at deducting? I wish I would have kept up with that kind of crap after college :( . I always deduct the max for clothing contributions ($500 I think). Anything else I am missing that I might be able to look into?

I get to claim the house this year, so I should be looking at around 2800 plus state. My girlfriend gets to claim our daughter and since she made next to nothing she also gets a credit for low income with child. And it is all going to paying the wonderful credit card debts. Damn QPR...(not in a bad way, I just couldn't resist Alan's boyish charm last summer)

I don't know what I am gonna do yet. Here's my breakdown:

Fed income tax held : $38.00
State taxes held: $4.00

$775.00 even in total pocketed income. no bullshit.
