View Full Version : 1G Base Timing Set Procedure?

Hey all!

Well I have searched and searched for the proper procedure to do the "Base Timing" on my car. Vfaq says to refer to your service manual and I know I need a new prescription for my glasses...but I do not see the procedure in my service manual. If someone can point me in the right direction or give me a step-by-step it would be WONDERFUL!!

Well checked it according to the steps on the link you gave me. Without grounding it was sitting at 5* BTDC. Grounding showed between TDC and 5*...more towards TDC. The cam angle sensor was all the way to the max rotated towards the rear of the engine bay.

I set it correctly and seems to pull without flutter all the way through to redline.

Now I need to look into the DSMLink for the car and start playing! ;)
