3/4th shift fork, why steel is soo much better....(graphic)

here is why powershifting in with a stock tranny is only fun the first couple of times...

my buddy was ripping through the gears after we got his car tuned better, and i told him to try to keep the revs up so the turbo wouldnt de-spool as much...

the results? time for steel shift forks.. i opened it up today to see why it wouldnt go out of third...

Surprisingly, Shep still uses the cast aluminum shift forks, but he doesn't powershift. Also, I think they get brittle with age, I broke one a 4-5 years ago without powershifting.

Noob... haha I've gone through so many stock tranny parts its unreal! I'll get a few pic's up sometime soon.

I never broke any trannies....its all in how you treat stuff. I drove my car hard, but I also drove it carefully.

I'm still on the original tranny my car came with. It needs a rebuild but I still beat on it sometimes. Agreed with Chris, the key is to have a not so harsh driving habbit.

It has a lot to do with how much power you are making and how high you are reving your motor. The highe you rev and the more power you make you run a higher risk of breaking things. Things happen a lot faster when you are making over 400whp than if you are making 200whp.
