Last weekend I had the talon running.Fixed a few boost leaks that I had.So finally I got to go for a test drive. Here I was going down the road driving normal. As a matter of fact I was only boosting 10psi.Then I heard kinda like a backfire. Then the car just went dead.So I have attached a pic to show what happend.

Anybody else thinking there is a broken or bent valve in that head? Hows the timing belt, did it jump time?

Anybody else thinking there is a broken or bent valve in that head? Hows the timing belt, did it jump time?Your right there is a broke valve. As a matter of fact, the head of the intake valve is still laying in the cylinder. When I checked the timing it was only one tooth off on the cam gears. That head had just been reworked.I got the machine shop to shave it,do a 3 angle valve job,I did all the polishing and porting. On a better note I found another motor I am going to buy for 600 bucks.

Did the valve actually fall out of the head or was it just piston to valve contact that made this happen?

I would say the piston made contact with the valve.I guess the valve was stuck open. Then the piston came up and knocked it a good one.Maybe thats why it shattered the rocker arm.The valve stem part is still in the guide. Its the valve surface thats laying in the cylinder.Maybe I can find more out about it when I take the head off.

If your timing is only off a tooth and this happened then most definitely the valve got stuck open. That would only be caused by poor lubrication or poor assembly.

shitty deal man sounds like you dropped some money on your rebuild. It wouldn't suprise me if the head of the valve is imbeded in the piston.

Matt to be honest I dont know what is at fault.JET even thought maybe it could have been a lifter.(I think thats what he said)I can say that I was not running it hard or turning alot of rpms when this happend.
