The one john L was running was a Qtec which I believe is the one Chris is referring to above. They are the best ones available at the moment. Not sure why John had issues with his, I know originally they couldn't get the wiring correct, maybe that still is the problem. But the part was definately much higher quality than the others I have seen for less money.

OK I been reading a lot and have found too many people having problems with these things. So I'm scrapping the idea. Just gunna do a 3" turbo back with an inconspicuous muffler. Just gotta find a nice flowing, and inexpensive regular looking single 3" in/out muffler now.

The issue with them always seems to be the electric motors failing, likely due to the heat and vibration. I would expect a vacuum motor or similar could be used as well, maybe a small small hydraulic system like an adapted clutch slave cylinder etc. I like idea of cutouts, I ran the cable type ones on my cuda in 86, they were pretty crude compared to the ones they have out now. Might be worth a little experimenting. Another use for a WG actuator maybe?

There's already a company that has one out like this. I'll try to find you the link again, but it's basically got a wastegate style actuator on it, and opens accordingly.

I believe in reinventing everything (for the better of course)

wow! i like it. if i were going to do a cutout i would definetely buy that one. But since i'm a cheap ass, and i'm just going to drop my exhaust from the dowpipe back when i go to the track, i think i'll pass. But i still like the idea.

John told me today that the motor for his cutout went bad. and it's no longer on his car. He didn't say wether he was going to get it fixed or not. But he's got a lot going on.

I found one that has a 4 year warranty, its $199 for the whole kit though, but others were from 150 to 220 so its not that bad I guess. Just the Electronic valve and wiring is 179.
