Most people experience issues with too much shaft play. I, on the other hand, had exactly zero shaft play in any given direction. I thought this was a great thing until i recently learned that there is supposed to be a little play for the oil to make its way through. Before i tear off my turbo to check it out, does anyone have an explaination of why it would be like that? And how severe of a problem this could be? It is just a stock 14b, and i was told it is the original turbo. I am experiencing a lot of burned oil, have not determined where the problem is.

I'd just run it till it dies, most 14b's end up loosing boost from leaks. T25's are the exloders ;)
If your going to be pulling off your 14b to inspect it you should just upgrade that mofo. It's probably cracked in a couple of places in the exhaust housing anyway.
You probably just didn't push on the shaft hard enough. If you turbo didn't have enough shaft play, it would be dead by now. The oil takes up the space in the bushing and you have to squish that out of the way first. Don't start looking for problems, your DSM will bring up enough of them on its' own :D

lol, the only reason that I would be pulling the turbo off to inspect it is that its such a quick check. 30-40 minutes to get it off and back on. I agree though, i wont look into it until it is broken lol.
