I wish they'd make that recall cover the Dakotas from '97 and on. We had to replace the ball joints in my mom's '99 last summer.

Yup, just great. My Pile of shit was made in 98 so no dice for me. But right now it doesn't matter. The last phone call I got from them was that they didn't even knwo where my truck was. They had the bill and everything, but they physically couldn't find the truck. So yeah, Maybe I will wait for a good recall for me to come out to have them look harder. LOL

We have a 2000 Dakota as well at work. The recall is not official yet. The dealership was pissed off that they put it on the news and they haven't even publically put out the recall yet. We will know sometime next week whether it becomes official or not.

At least Chrysler is doing something about it. They didn't have to from the sounds of it. GM with their stupid exploding trucks in the 80's lost me so much respect for that company that you couldn't give me a GM truck now. A company to buck up and cover the 60+ million to fix this is respectable if they weren't forced.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the '97-99's versus the '00-03's? I sure would have thought that the early ball joint problems would have been corrected in the later models but I guess not.
