I just sold my '92 GSX yesterday, and I have a crankwalked '95 Tsi awd. I saw a 92 talon for sale. It looks flawless, but has higher miles (150k). My dsms had/have less than 90k on them and I'm wondering what kind of stuff wears out at that mileage?
how much do you want for that crankwalked 95?

Every DSM I've owned has had over 100k on it. Finding one (especially a 1G) under that is getting harder and harder to do. Cosmetics should really be priority #1, as you'll replace everything else eventually anyway. ;)
Buying a dsm is the scarest thing ever. You never know what you will get.

hahaha yeh. My 1G had 63k on it when I bought. Tranny was shot, no clutch, but unmolested (Just had the shit beaten out of it). After thousands of dollars in to it, I sold it for a little more than I originally paid. Yeh I'd pay top dollar for a near-perfect 1G, regardless of miles. I'm just a dumbass and I don't know what I want. I love 1Gs! But I could get more of my total investment back with a 2G. But i hate it that the general dumbass sees a GS eclipse with a kit, thinks its fast as hell, they see a 1G with a front mount, and they're like, "did you get a new radiator? its all shiny!" And because a 1G doesnt have the sexiest curves most people think they are piles! It bothers me, but its also fun when you race people.

I think that's part of the reason people like 1Gs... cuz most douchebags don't know wtf they are. Especially if it's a Laser.
IMO, you shouldn't buy a DSM if you're looking to get "most of your investment back". It's never going to happen... and I would be willing you'd lose more of it w/ a 2G.

I disagree. There are many morons out there that don't know anything who will pay much more than someone who knows about DSMs.
I agree with everyone else. Sell me your 2g and be done with it. Invest in the market or something.

well, from my past with DSMs...You could buy a decent one but not know that the last owner tried to "port" the 2G exhaust mani. He had left the metal ring in the bottom of it, which turned sideways and blocked the exit of exhaust. A bunch of bad rings and burnt valves later i realised that it's not DSMs that are bad, it's the freaking owners. Buy one from an old lady like i got my Conquest from.

I would agree that you'd get more money from people who DONT know what a DSM is all about. I woudln't go by miles, they often don't mean anything at all. My quest with 46k on it had A LOT of problems with it. It's always the owners, NOT the car, that makes the difference.
