Alright, i knew my biss could use some adjusting but DAMN. I have a 90 laser RST fwd. When i start my car, sometimes it dies. Generally when its between hot and cold. When its cold and i drive it ( i know i shouldnt) the idle stays ABOVE 2 for like 20 minutes. When i let it warm up, it stays at about 1200 until i stop. It was surging a little bit this time. When i blocked off my emissions, i ghetto rigged it so it might not be COMPLETELY blocked. Any ideas or suggestions? any questions that i left out, plz lemme know and ill throw out the info. Thanks
Other thread wouldnt work for some reason. If a mod can see two, plz delete one or something. I need a quick answer and im trying to repost to see if that fixes it!

What exactly did you block off?

Did you put in an egr blockoff plate? If the egr sticks open it can cause poor idle.
Otherwise there are 2 connectors near the battery, one is just a female spade conector, this one is the fuel pump check terminal leave it alone. The one you want is a wider plug that "looks" like it should be a 2 prong plug but it really only has one prong. You need to take this connector and ground it (make sure you ground the pin and not the plastic thing inside the connector). This will tell the ecu to center the ISC motor and you can adjust the idle to ~750rpms with the biss. Make sure your logger is unplugged for this if you have one or the ecu will think your setting base timing.
You also should check the isc, I dont know if the page is still up on the vfaq but there are 2 rows of 3 pins and you want to measure the resistance between the middle pin in each row and each end pin. (ie. left pin to middle pin and middle pin to right pin). Do this for both rows of pins and it should be around 30 ohms I *think* If it is an open circut your isc is bad ;)
Good luck, Sean.

i blocked off the EGR shit. And yea, that all sounds awesome but i hate electrical! So ill just get the QPR fiav and isc block off plate lol. Ill try seting my timing with it grounded out first. Thanks for the help. Ne other ideas? It definitly has something to do with cold. Parking in garage vs outside is HUGE difference.

FIAV or ISC is a good bet then.

also, I have a one inch hole in my flex pipe. It isnt just a normal hole, it goes all of the way around the flex peice. Could this cause bad idle and occassional misfires? I was told yes.. and no. So ima bit lost. I Am getting a new downpipe tomorrow morning and i guess i will see then but im a bit anxious to find out cuz yea. Any info would be awesome. Thanks
