My classmate has a 1995 GSX, lightly modded, aftermarket clutch (newer), Filter, Exhaust, MBC, I may be forgetting something very minor...

While driving, he states that the car came out of gear while he was on throttle, then began to come down in the RPM's, never surging or reving higher into the RPM's, just dropping all together. Tried to give it gas, but nothing, it didn't pop out of gear, just started to come down in the RPMs... He wasn't turning, and he said there was not any signs of dead pedal when he did. This was on 494. He immediately pushed in the clutch when this occurred, coasted to a stop, and shut the car off... For fear of causing further damage, the only time he tried to restart failed. Called a flat bed, and now it sits.

I need to be able to tell him where to start, What to look for, What we may be looking at, so on and so forth...

Any help is help...

Does he have anything done to the fuel pump like its re-wired or anything? I had the same thing happen to me last winter... but ground came undone on the relay for it. that took care of it. I would also think possible one of the obdII monitors has failed possibly... is there a MIL on at all? If so just hook up a scan tool and start there. It's somewhere to start there if there is a code thrown or what not. I'd say start there. and also for more help find out what is "ALL" done to the car?

The check engine light is on with the key to show you the light works, if it stays on with car running than you have a code, If the car is not running than you would not know if the light were on for a code. But you could still have a code because if the problem. Check basic stuff first like codes and the fuse box, gas the gauge could be wrong check fuel psi, and the t-belt.

How long since he did the timing belt? Mine was just like that on my first DSM. Just cruising at 60 and it was like I shut the key off. No power and it just coasted to a stop. Ask him if it turned over any faster than usual when he was trying to start it.

Crankwalk. Lol, probably not but ya never know those 2G 7bolts. T-Belt would be my guess.

I would say a broken balance shaft belt, then skipped or broke the timing belt.

Wierdness...

So he took a look at the T-belt... Fine

Car starts, no knocking, no sputtering, bad idle, nothing. Battery is good, fuses good, Runs as normal now...

Is there something we're missing here???
