My family went across south dakota and in the hills all you see are stars at night, its a big change from around the citys to mountain views. I also saw the nother lights years ago in hibbing. I thought it was light reflecting off the northern ice? jk.

I managed to host one of the pictures I took last night of the northern lights. This one is my favorite

Yea how did you get such a good picture!! GRR Mine came out black as night and you can barely see the greens.
Prolly have a better camera then me but it was pitch black where we stopped and I had it on "night shot". Gay canon A70.

That picture was taken right outside of Winona. To take that picture, I used a 15 second exposure and a tripod. If you do that, it should come out fine. My camera also isn't any better than yours. It is a Minolta DiMage Z1.
