Here's my situation. I have multiple cars and one decent stereo system. Two of the cars are wired so I can swap the head unit, subs, and amps in about 20 minutes. Good but not great and the box for the subs and amps is one heavy mofo. Anyone have suggestions on putting together a decent sounding system that I could easily swap between cars?

I've been contemplating using home audio equipment (some of those surround sound systems use small speakers) and a power inverter but I'm not sure if the inverter could supply enough juice or if it would even sound good.

Maybe I'll just have to get with a Walkman and some headphones? :goodluck:

I'd be interested in finding any of the following (in addition to any ideas, opinions):
Lightweight or small amps, speakers.
Head unit that has a "docking bay" so it could be easily removed

connect all the speakers with banana plugs and mount them using pins. that way you carry a box and can just unplug them anytime.

A Sony boom box and a power inverter is all you need...
