......It is put on by the rallymaster for the last 4 rallies up north.

Goto the official Tombstone Trail website (http://www.marblesoft.com/tombstone/) for more info.

It will be on October 30th. It costs $15 per car for SCCA members and $20 per car for non-members. You can register early (info at the above website. Probably best to send your entry directly to Mark. His address and info are on the registraion page) or you can register the day of the event. Some years have sold out so it's best to do it ahead of time. Cars get registered between 6-7pm with the first car out at 7pm. A car will start each minute after that.

Basically what this is, is a gimmick rally. It's not meant to be a speed competition. What happens is you are given a predetermined amount of time (last year was 3 hours I believe) to visit as many cemetaries as possible to answer questions to earn points.

I know, this sounds really bad, but it is not. Basically you go to these cemetaries and try to answer questions. Some questions have to do with certain headstones, some questions are about when the cemetary was founded, and so on and so forth. It will tell you in the question whether or not you are allowed to enter the cemetary or not and the general area that you will find the answer.

Last year we had a word puzzle to solve. Each answer that we got corresponded to a letter in a cryptogram. Each question had a tie-breaker question with it. That way if more than one person solves the puzzle, it will come down to the tie-breaker questions to determine that teams place in the standings.

Don't worry about going up against people that have been doing this for years. They have a class system set up so you get put in a class with people of the same amount of experience. There are 4 classes; Seed A, B, C and D. If it's your first time running it, they will put you in seed D. If you have only run one or it has been a long time since your last one, they will put you in seed C. If you've run quite a few, they will put you in seed B. If you have run very many of them and have placed very high in previous ones, they will put you in seed A. We tried it for the first time last year and were put into seed D. Well, we beat out ALL of seed B, C, and D!!!!! So this year we have been bumped up to seed B!! We got 8th place overall out of 30 cars.

This will be the 27th running of it, so it's not like it's something new. We had an absolute blast last year and plan on attending this year as well. Hopefully we'll see some of you guys out there as well. If you have any questions, you can contact the rallymaster or, you can respond here or PM me. I will try to help out as much as possible.

Well, the Tombstone Trail was a blast!!! It was decent weather for it. I had Mike Wray for my co-driver. It was my second time running the event and it was his first time. Well, we took first in our class and second overall!!!!!!!

I'm already signing up for next. It is an absolute blast. Some call it wierd but everyone who runs it has a great time.
