Eric was telling the truth, I am not a gun fanatic by any means (I don't own one), but I can smell a BS law when I see it. I personally don't care whether they have the law or not since it really won't make a bit of difference in anyones life; althought I suppose I would much rather have our lawmakers worrying about something that might actually benefit this country rather than a law designed solely to shut the mad-mothers up.

that's true, why don't our lawmakers work on smart laws? i'm not going to buy a gun, cause i don't care about guns. unless i am in the wrong part of town ;) but yeah, they should focus on laws that will benefit americans in tangeable ways.

THIS is what sounds stupid to me:
why would someone carry a fully auto weapon as protection? that sounds highly rediculous. you have to admit.
also, i think that any of you who would buy one of these previously banned guns probably don't live in an area where you honestly need them. so, why exactly do you want one? is there something you can achieve (as in shooting targets) with an auto that you couldn't with a regular or semi auto gun?
This is the ignorance that we have to put up with in regard to the assault weapon ban.
Your average citizen still cannot buy a full auto. And as far as "anyone who would buy a previously banned gun yadda yadda." - I personally own two guns that would have been illegal IF they were manufactured during the ban. They were made well before the ban, making them legal to own. I wish all these people putting all that effort into the AWB would put as much effort into RESEARCH about the ban.
Yep, Chris beat me to it. The assault weapons ban had absolutely nothing to do with automatic weapons. We haven't been able to own an automatic weapon in the state for decades (it is possible to get a special permit, but it is extremely hard).
Like I stated before, the law really tried to ban guns that "looked" like military guns. It also outlawed high capacity magazines for basically all guns. How many people go on shooting sprees with a .22 rifle? I couldn't get a high capacity magazine for my ruger 10/22 (for a decent price anyway). It also limited the number of rounds you could hold in a pistol. If you go to the shooting range you don't want to spend all of your time reloading, you want to be able to shoot.

Say whatever you need to make yourself feel better, but you did in fact, jump in and start arguing about something you obviously knew nothing about.

I for one know that guns are not a good thing. You people that think otherwise, well god help us all.

A gun is only as good or as bad as the person holding it.Lots of things can become lethal weapons in the hands of a person intending to use them that way, do you want to ban those too? You fucking people don't realize, criminals will ALWAYS have guns, why can't law abiding citizens?

I guess no one should have cars either... becuase they can be used to kill.
Guns are guns, any gun works to kill.... even ones that werent affected by the law. They will always be out there no matter what even if there are piddly laws that dont do crap. I dont underdstand how you dont see that???? You just dont get logic or what?
