ehhh short shifters would do nothing but put more strain on our synchro-bashing trannies, i dont know a single person using one....

i hypothesize that synchro life is a function of shifting speed. if you give your car a lazy 1 sec interval between gears its gonna love you forever since you are giving its synchros a little time to match speeds, as oppossed to doing it gear bash style. now a short shifter would lower this interval even more if you are already a gear basher.

I can believe that opinion for direct link shifters (i.e. Honda's and such) but not for cable shifters like DSM's. I would think that the flex of the cables would take out most of the extra torq created from the shorter throw.

Just as an aside, I have had a short throw shifter on my CRX (which is a direct link shifter) for over 3 years without any problems with the synchros. And yes, I quick shift with it. The throw of the shifter is about 5" at most.

you can't compare a honda tranny to a dsm one, honda actually knows how to make a tranny

Honestly, I put my stock 2g shift knob on my 1g, and TADA! Instant Short Shifter! Works terrific, its the best of both worlds.

i have a b&m short shifter on my 2g, at the shortest possible throw (it has 2 different pivot points)

if you're going to shift fast, you're going to shift fast. i don't know about you, but i can cover 6" of travel with my hand in far less than a second. the short shifter just improves the feel and makes things feel less sloppy. you can still shift slow with it if you want to.

compared to my 2g, i feel like im rowing a boat in my 1g, and would love a good short shifter solution, but haven't found one with good quality/reviews. one's that actually move the pivot point are the best, as opposed to just a shorter rod
