I liked viper, until it killed my battery 3 times, untill I replaced it, my friends viper killed his battery 2 times untill he pulled the fuse for it, but that was 10 years back.
They were more than likely install related problems.DEI is the best around [/b][/quote]
Ya, I dident like the install, did the next one by self. with a POS alarm but it worked fine for years.

That not actually not bad considering some of the hack jobs I've seen.

Compustar isn't bad, I actually like them quite well. But the install manuals aren't designed for someone who doesn't have x amount of years of experience with remote start/alarms. Plus the only way I know to get a halfway decent price on one is through EBay or online vendors. And Firstech (the company that owns Compustar) will not warranty and unit without a verified reciept from an actual store, they will not waranty anything sold online.
I used to have the hookup for them for about 210 for the highest end model, but I am not sure if that is still around. Other than that expect around 450.

Screw Compustar, they are over-priced and over-hyped.I believe DEIs Clifford, Avital, Hornet, and Viper lines all have systems with two-way remotes. They won't have the warranty either(unless installed by a dealer), but warranty is not needed with DEI products, not in my experience at least.

So I talked to another local guy who's name escapes me right now but works at Mach 1 in little canada, he's an ex dsm guy and is great with alarms and electronics. However, due to him dealing with jackasses in the past, he won't install a remote start system and bypass the clutch switch, for liability reasons.

that said, would you install one in my 1G Lightning? i have a clifford solaris on my 2G and love it, love the remote start and never leave it in gear. hell i'll write up and sign a waiver for you if you want, no liability if i start it with it in gear and run it into a wall :)

BTW Even though I don't like Compustars, I have installed a ton of them and had no problems. So I must admit, other than the price and hype, they are quality systems.

Do it up, that's a great price for a great system. I used to sell them until we ended up dropping DEI(thanks to our corporate fuckers). Great unit definately.
