As most of you know we had our rallyfest on saturday. We didn't have a huge turnout but at one point there was about 60-70 cars in the parking lot. The demonstration runs were really cool to watch. It came down to the wire as far as times go. But Jim Cox ended up with fastest time of day. Of course it wasn't a competition, it was for demonstration purposes. But they were having fun trying to better each others time. BTW, Jim runs a S-10 pickup (was a S-10 Blazer chassis) with a small block engine in it.
And of course we had our rallycross today. It was an awesome course!!!!! Alot wider and faster than ones in the past. We had a 360 degree pin turn, acouple of fast sweeping corners, a couple of tight, sharp corners and a 4 cone slalom. In our class (open stock) it was truly a battle. The first three places were deicided by 3 seconds. I was lucky enough to take first in class again. This was my best showing at Corcoran. Corcoran has always been a hard track for me to drive right. I always was out of the podium spots almost every time. This time, though, it was different. I actually ran quite well. Even with almost a completely open exhaust. After the second run I lost the bolt and nut that hold my downpipe to the O2 housing of the turbo. Now there is a 1/2" gap between the O2 housing and downpipe. Sounds almost like a rally car now!!
Ryan (Rhino) and Eric (520Talon) were out there as well. Ryan had fun devouring cones in the Porsche. Eric did pretty well but the pin turn kept screwing him up. Ryan took 3rd in his class (Group 5 Prepared) and unfortunately Eric had to leave early so he lost out on the last set of runs.
All in all it was a fun rally weekend. Now we have a weekend off and then the Ojibwe Forests ProRally is upon us (August 27th and 28th in Bemidji). At least now we have about a week and a half before we have to be up in the woods.
