Just heard it on WCCO. No Smoking in MPLS buildings PERIOD>

I think it's dumb. Especially since STP didn't pass it.

If I don't want smoke, I don't go to a bar.

If I don't want food, I don't go to the grocery store.

I think I will smoke to that. Honestly I think it's a good idea because I hate smoking even though I smoke. For alot of people not smoking in a bar will be tough.

It will probably be struck down in court.

You didnt listen very well. I was just watching the news, and it has NOT passed yet. Bloomington passed it, but MPLS has not passed it yet. Bloomington goes into effect next March for all bars, rests, etc.

Minneapolis Approves Citywide Smoking Ban

Jul 23, 2004 12:19 pm US/Central
Minneapolis (AP) The Minneapolis City Council has overwhelmingly approved a smoking ban for bars, clubs and restaurants.

The vote was 12 to 1 in favor of the ban. It goes into effect next March 31st.

Attempts to exempt smaller, neighborhood bars from the ban failed.

Mayor RT Rybak supports the measure.

The Minneapolis action follows a vote by Bloomington earlier this week.

The Bloomington ban is more restrictive because it applies to bars, restaurants and workplaces. Bloomington also banned smoking within 25 feet of entrances, exits, open windows and ventilation intakes.

Duluth did the same thing a few years ago and I highly doubt it will be changed. They did lose some business to the Superior bars b/c of it, but obviously not too much since the D-town bars are still packed. Personally I don't really care either way, I don't mind a smokey dive of a bar, but I also don't mind a clean-aired bar with luxurious chairs (Anchor vs. DAC).

As long as I can still light up the old crack pipe in the bathroom, I don't give a fuck.

Yeah good fucking idea noW the crime rate will go up because there will be a bunch of crabby pissed off fuckers that can't smoke and are drinking on top of it. Good thinking fuckers. Shit I remember when AJ tried to quit smoking, I was with him for five minutes and almost killed him. And god bless anyone who called him to hook up the cable tv in the shop. AJ quoted "WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING TV", "DUDE....WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING TV", "WE ARE NOT GETTING A FUCKING TV EVER SO DON'T CALL AGAIN" HANG UP...LOL.
