Got my trans back from TRE a couple of days ago.

Here's what I got,

Cryo treatment of all hard parts (gears, shafts, etc)
SpeedDesign 4-spyder mod
Torington Bearing mod
Heavy Duty 3/4 hub/sleeve
Blueprinted and rebuilt to TRE specs.

This will cover the needs of about 95% of the DSM crowd. :3gears:
Total $1700.00 including shipping for those who are wondering.

Just to let you know, John (TRE) told me that the butcher at Mitsu had used silicon where the bell housing attached to the trans body and had plugged up the oil feed passages. If I had continued driving it, it would have been distroyed (bastards).

Now if Magnus would just finish my engine (still waiting for rods).

Have you heard anything about when the Pauters should be in?

So it cost you only 1700 bucks to get your tranny toatally rebuilt and those additional things done to it or, only those things listed? What new parts did they put in- gears, synchros- double, single...

I spent 1200 bucks to have mitsu rebuild mine to stock spec a little less than 2 years ago before I knew local people could do it dirt cheap. GRRR

Below is what's included in the full rebuild.

Send your trans here and get it rebuilt with TRE gearbox mods.

This will include:

New improved high friction 1-5th synchros. These allow faster shifts at higher rpms.

New 1st-2nd & 3rd-4th hub & sleeves. Shot peened for strength. No more shattered sleeves.

New 1st-2nd & 3rd-4th forks. These are late style factory OEM and hold up great.

New modified double synchro 2nd gearset. This is a modified gearset will allow shifts above 9000rpm.

New Input shaft bearings

New intermediate shaft bearings

New needle bearings under 1st -4th gears. 5th gear needle bearing is rarely wears out and is replaced if need be.

New oil seals

New synchro keys

New synchro key springs

New heavy duty Neodymium trash magnet, oil filter and magnetic drain plug. This really keeps the metal fragments out of the oil.

New snap rings, roll pins, end nuts, bearing shims and all the other non-reusables that you would expect to be replaced in a quality rebuild.

Enlarged oil passages for long transmission life. This makes for a cooler, longer running transmission.

All gears & shafts stress relieved and modified for durability and higher torque capacity.

Additional machine work is also done that'll make it shift like it should have in the first place and last much longer.

The cost $1050.

The other things I listed were optional and brought the total up. I did save some $$$ because my trans had the double synchro 2nd gear in it already and it was like new according to John (TRE). They just modified it. Mitsu had replaced it recently under warranty. There were other parts that were in great shape according to John that were not needed and saved me some $$$. If I had needed everything in that rebuild plus the additional it would have run closer to $1950.00

Man that is awesome. I know thats what Im doing next, after mine either A- blows up from sheer horsepower (haha sure...) Or B- just wears out.

I had a TRE tranny, it was really nice.

P.S. I have the old TRE/ Clutchnet rally talon. I have also co-driven the 549 rally talon on the right hand side of the top of there page.
