Any recommendations on where to get this cheap?
Any others I should look at?
Thanks

I bought a Contour +2 a couple years ago. Debated between it and a Hero 3 Black (was no Hero 4 back then). Back then it was about $100 cheaper than the Hero 3 Black, and the reviews I read put them pretty much neck and neck with the GoPro outperforming by a hair at max resolution.
Considering I never plan to use them at their max capability (probably more like 480p or 720p), I decided to save myself $100 and get the Contour.
Unfortunately I've never really gotten a good opportunity to use it. I have it here though if you wanted to try it out. I have a cheapo external mic I bought for it as well to hopefully help with wind noise.
Couple things I found worth noting when I compared it to the Hero 3 black back in the day. Some of these however may not apply anymore with the newer Hero 4, but figured I'd share anyway.
- It has a Bluetooth based app for remote controlling. Similar to the Hero 3 but the Hero 3 is WiFi which is slower. Also the Contour App was praised as being more user friendly
- Has a built in laser leveling tool to help set it up level.
- The lense can be rotated to assist in a level picture.

I have a hero 3+ and white, The white is cheap but I haven't tried it in the higher quality settings and isn't "wide screen". My hero 3+ is meh during the day in 1080p at 60fps but its crappy compared to the hero4. Depends on what you want to do with it. If your trying to read license plates after people try and side swipe you, hero 4. Hero 3 if you just want video evidence of ricky bobby shenanigans. Night time sucks on the hero 3+ unless there is a night mode.
Both were "cheaper". If you want mega cheap. Mobius.
White came in at $149 at the walmarts.
hero3+ came as a package deal with other accessories for $300ish
Amazon is definitely a good place to start as you could get a little package deal going.
hero 3+ at night.

Thanks dudes, I'm gonna want to spaz it up at some point and get multiple cams.
But I scored a Hero4 Silver for $260 BNIB.
Just need to get a suction cup and learn how to use it, then find my FUCKING micro SD cards.

I have the Ram mount suction mount. Thing is super strong!

I also bought a cheapo suction mount that I can just use on the inside of the car on a 2nd camera.

To be honest, while I have 3, I rarely use them all. Most often I'm just using one inside the car so I can watch my lines and inputs and review them at the event on a tablet. The others are just kind of there if I do use them, just basically generating content should I choose to use it.
Though I will admit, throwing one on the fender to get footage of the brakes shooting sparks and the rotors glowing is pretty neat.

Wanted one of these for a while now, let me know how the 4 turns out! Also send me some crisp HD Action footage! Giggity!

Haha nice. I always just figured for myself in the rare case I wanted simultaneous videos from both outside the car and inside, I'd use the action cam on the outside and then just use my normal digital camera for the inside.

I wanted to make a POV video with the lady. She didn't say no.
Hero 3 or 4 would be good!

Might want to use an external mic for that, the internal built in mic might not be able to take the loud screaming!
What size SD cards do you guys usually buy? I have a 16GB in mine right now, wondering how much footage that'll actually capture though. I probably will only be recording in 480p or 720p though.
