so all the searching I have done is how to hook up an aem wideband with ecmlink,
BUT I don't have ecmlink yet, so would i follow the same instructions or what would be the process of hooking the gauge up without It? I do plan on getting ecmlink I just don't have it yet.

http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/widebandbasics
start there
then find the wiki page that essentially describes how the aem isn't a good choice when there is the lc2 or plx on the market...
