Now before everyone gets too excited, what's basically been done is they bolted some bits to a Mirage to have another homologated option to compete in the R5 class for WRC-2 (formerly the S-WRC).
In circuit terms it would like like F2 vs F1.
People still actively compete in this class using Mitsubishi products (as well as Subaru) since its inception and that did not change when Mitsubishi pulled its factory WRC team.

I don't think this is a Mitsubishi factory backed car, its a car made from mostly Mitsubishi parts. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I read it.

Even if it was a oem rally car. They would never sell it in the US.
It does make the crappy new want to be mirage look a hell of a lot better.

Indeed! It appears to be built by Ralliart, so who knows where it could lead.. lots of manufactures getting back into WRC these days :)
