Can I fit 225/50ZR17's on my 1g

I picked up a nice set of used BFG gforce sport 225/50/ZR17's thinking they'd fit on my 1g. After pulling out the tape measure, it looks like they're going to rub on the front strut spring mount. Is there a way to get these tires to clear or are they just too big?

225/45-17 fit, so yours should fit if the width/offsets of your wheels are good.

They fit! The higher tire profile doesn't look the greatest, but at least they're in much better condition than the old dry rotted tires that haven't seen a road for years.

I have 255/40/17 on mine and it's lowered. +35 offset. Fenders are rolled but seem to fit fine

35 offset will stick out in the front on a 1G, I have 42 on the front and 35 on the rear, and a few suspension tricks to make it work right. :D
