Ok, here's the deal. My dad used to have a company car, and he was the only person authorized to drive it, so my mom and I weren't even considered "part time" drivers, so my rate was good since it was just 2 cars, mine being one of them.

Now my dad's company dropped his company car program, and he had to buy an car to get to and from work, but now that his car is privately owned, I have to be insured on it, and since I am a teenage male, I get raped.

Anyway, my insurance went from about $130 a month to $275 a month, just because of my dad's car.

What are my options here to get cheaper insurance, should I get my own policy completely seperate from my family?? If that is the case, what companies would you recommend?? Is prokop any good, they say they can save money, but I don't wanna get screwed if I have to make a claim.

Thanks for the help guys!!!

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention that I went on progressive.com and got an online quote and they wanted almost $4000 for 6 months of coverage, so I think that might be messed up.

American family has fiven me the best rates for being by myself it was like $200/ month for my 90 gsx (primary) and my 98 gsx (secondary).

Farm Bureau tries to rape me by saying I would need to have the insurance of the house i reside in through them also.

With Progressive you really need a perfect driving record and you need to find the holes in their policies.

State Farm can be decent but it depends on who you talk to- One guy there quoted me a $400/ month price. The other guy said it would be about $750/year.

:goodluck:

State Farm gives me awsome rates. Call Progressive on the phone if you want a realistic quote.

I was thinking about that, but if i claimed that I lived at my neighbors house or whatever, wouldn't I have to change the address on my drivers license and all that stuff??

Anyway, I am thinking that getting my own policy is definately the way to go, it is really bullshit that I have to pay for insurance as a "part time driver" on 2 cars that I don't ever drive.

Farmers

How come every site I go to to get a quote gives me something insane, like over $500 a month??

I just made up a guy with a perfect driving record, and they still want almost $300 a month, wtf?

state farm is great! We have 6 cars 3 seadoos a boat and a house all with them. We have never had a problem with them either. A few months ago a chick ran into my dad and totaled his car. State farm told us what they would give us for the car within a week and said that if the other company didnt' pay up or gave us less that that would be what they gave us for the car less our 500 dolar dectable and then they would try to get that back from the other company. 5 weeks later the other company gave us a quote less than state farm and they wouldn't just pay us what state farm was going to give us because then they had another 6 weeks to pay them.

cliff notes..... state farm rocks, always willing to pay up even if someone else should, and we have never had a complant with them..... though we are probably putting our agents kids through collage with all of our toys.

btw we have 6 cars but three drivers. I am 16 (male) my brother is 22, and my sister is 20.
