Here is some good info to read. This is from a Evo 8-9. Yes I know they are two different motors but I use the numbers as a reference to convert to DSM specs e.i. intake duration @ .050 lobe lift: 211.5 is universal on cam analyzer. So the breakdown speaks for itself and gives an idea of the real numbers vs advertised numbers.

It gets really good when they get to the Evo 9 FP4R cams on the cam analyzer. Here are the advertise specs of the Evo 9 FP4R version 1 & 2. Both have more duration then the DSM FP4R (from what I have researched every evo cam has more duration then the corresponding dsm cam).

If you want to cross reference here are some evo cams at 1mm advertised duration. Also Jun 272 peak lift is advertised as 10.8 but shows 0.41829 =10.6mm on the cam analyzer.

I will say this. I have to give props to Darren at FFWD. He is the only person my machine shop and I have ever seen that posted the true specs of cams. They have always been there. Most just dont understand them.

Interesting that stock 9 cams are similar to the DSM HKS 272's.

Heh this info is kinda old but good! Cams are a mystical and magical thing.

LOL I'm still loving this. I think the only thing that saved you was the rev limiter and some luck! Then again, Jim ran 4R's in his IX on stock valvesprings as well--to like 8400rpm on the drag strip!

Yea man, the stock mivec cams on the 9 and 10 are really pretty dang fantastic out of the box. With the right sized-snail they can go very far!

I run FFWD KING KAMS. Almost everyone blasted them and called the Kelford and/or FP 5R regrinds/clones. That just verified to me what I already knew. Which is most don't have a clue about what they are looking at. Because the real specs of KING KAMS were posted right on it's page in the cams description from the cam analyzer. My from the cam analyzer my intake cam is bigger then DSM FP 5R's advertised duration and my exhaust cam is damn near bigger then the DSM Kelford 280 advertised duration and i mean damn near. I wanted to rev to the moon and back. Thats why I bought the KING KAMS and I got the last set made. But alot of people would have loved the cam. If they knew what they were looking at lol.

Update and a damn good read!. February 2014 issue of dsport magazine. They themselves just did a unbiased evo cam showcase. Part 1 only showed a few cams that were tested and all the other cams will be shown in part 2! They show the real duration (cam pro analyzer) vs advertised and also dyno'd them. I linked pics of the article. Which shows the kelford 264, 272, and 280 real cam data!!!!!! Down to the volumetric efficiency of the cams.....throughout the rpm range!!!
