I think it's the inner side (towards the chassis, not the fender) though that's rubbing....not positive but we will see. I may have to enlist your help with a hammer or something :)

Updateski! So minor but whatever. Still just loving this hog.

Never ended up rolling the fenders--I found two little tabs right where the rear bumper cover mates up with the fender that were already folded 2/3 of the way up , bent them the rest of the way and zero rubbing since then--even fully loaded. Wahoo!

Got a wild hair and pulled the chromey part off the front and pulled a rosey--went nutz with the black plasti-dip. 4 coats + 4 coats of glossifier, lots of cussing...

Super pumped, left the VW badge chrome and the rest all black. Doesn't look half bad as long as you're 10+ feet away :D Lower section peeled instantly and I told myself I'd re-do it sometime....haven't bothered yet.

Other than that, just been driving it on road trips and to work here and there...trying to drive the evo as much as possible :D But still filling the back whenever I can.

Jill insists on lying down in the way way back, firewood and all...

Looks good, but the vw logo needs more plastidip! Maybe do it in dark grey dip?

There is a ghost in your picture where it is loaded with car parts. I'm scared.

But the car looks good!

So much travel this summer, put a ton of miles on this thing so far this year. I bought it about a 11 months ago with 64k miles and it is at about 76k now. Over half of that is road trips...just this spring/summer so far:
1 trip to Montana ~2000 miles round trip
6 trips up to Fergus Falls ~400 miles round trip
1 trip to Des Moines ~500 miles round trip
1 trip to Fargo ~600 miles round trip

Add in 2x trips to Brainerd in the evo9 and the 700(?) miles spring cruise in teh X and goddamn I've been on the road a lot this year. Loving it!

On a recent road trip for work I noticed that the steering wheel seemed to have developed a vibration at freeway speeds. Sometimes bad, sometimes nothing. I have noticed this before but thought it was just the road I was on, nbd.

When I got back, the car was due for an oil change....still loving doing those on this car BTW, seriously it might take 10 minutes total--with the hole I cut for the drain plug and the oil filter up top, I had extra oil and filter lying around so it was just so so painless.

...anyways, I looked at rotating the tires and voila, the inside shoulders of both front tires were completely bald. Oops! So I scheduled up an appointment with J-TAG and while the camber was fine, the toe was WAY off. Bah! Must have been the crap roads around work and I'll be honest, I haven't taken it easy on this thing :) It hits railroad crossings and potholes just like any other car on the raod.

The car drives straight as an arrow now! No shimmies! Been getting a pretty consistent 28-29mpg on road trips. Most of these vw/audis get 30+ but I figure the wagon kills ~2mpg and the roof rack .5-1mpg so meh. This dropped to 25mpg on the montana trip with 4 people, roof box, and allll our ski shit for a week, cruising through the mountains.

I've had multiple people ask me when I'm selling this thing...friends, coworkers, strangers even.....and truthfully unless I start selling evos and want a serious DD upgrade I don't see myself getting rid of it for a while. Very very happy with it. Cheap, simple and reliable. Sometimes I think about chipping it but then I swap in BP93 for the crap country 91 (or the crap they have in montana, gah!) and the thing seriously picks up 15wtq...it already spins the front tires no problemo, so why bother I guess.

See you at the next installment....airbags?

Oh, I didn't mention this, but the front tires were basically corded, these are the sweet ebay tires I bought earlier this year :D :D :D

Luckily, they are 245/40-18, same size as both evos, so the Fuzion ZRi's I just took off of the evo9 (http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34059) I just threw two of them on the front of the wagon and good to go :)
