any opinions? I am entertaining the thought of selling or trading the 2.4
im not sure of the 2.4 but the whole 7bolt crankwalk thing scares me a bit.
does the year of my 4g64 matter for that? opinions welcome

Crank walk is over rated. I am building a 99 2.4 right now and have a 94 galant gs dohc 2.4 block and crak on the shelf that will be built also

i have the 94 galant 2.4. just been really interested in 2.3 6bolts. what would be the difference between the two

About 6mm of deck height, and oil squirters.

If you have a running motor, I would just keep it. Don't believe everything you read on teh internet.

If you have the updated thrust bearing then you should be good, that's just the little I know. But I do know there are a lot of people making power on 7 bolts just fine these days.

Good luck.

so i'm starting to come around on the seven bolt thing, it is hard to see 95% of the dsm community say build a 6bolt and stick with my 7bolt.

Maybe 8 years ago, I'd build a 7-bolt with no worries.

I wouldn't build a 7-bolt 4G63, but I would build a 7-bolt 4G64. I ran a std bore 7-bolt 4G64 in my white 99.

I guess I'd say I'd build the later 7-bolt with the split thrust bearing, the earlier 95-96 one is the one people seem to have problems with. The Evo motor I built was a 2.4, but had the three piece thrust, which was easy to build and get aligned properly. I know Shindley had some problems with the early 7-bolts and had to order specific bearings for each main following the amount of dimples specified by the factory pounded into the block. He had it figured out, but I never dealt with that as I was always building 6-bolts.
