Nice list of cars but I don't think I'd go with an evox or anything I wanted to mod if it was me. I'd get a nice comfy old man car that was still halfway fun to drive for my daily driver and leave it alone. Then get a fun car or bike to mess with when you want to go fast.

I think the key is to put a lot of thought into proper mods and not go overboard, and if you do, have the maturity to remove/replace that certain part. I like to think of my X as the ultimate fun DD. It idles/drives just as easy and smooth as stock; my mom has even driven it a few times and my dad has plenty when down to visit (or me up there visiting). It's also quiet enough to be comfortable on roadtrips, talk on the phone over the Bluetooth system, and have a conversation with passengers.

Mods I have specifically avoided this time around:
-stiff motor mounts
-big cams
-lightweight flywheel
-aggressive clutch
-loud exhaust

Not possible, I already have a long list of stuff to do to my new car although most is looks.

@ Brandon, I like the SHO but it is bigger than what I am looking for.

I hope to be test driving the Evo X at Kline tonight, haven't heard from the other one yet that it is ready today. Also swinging by to take a 2008 335i xDrive for a test drive after work. After looking at them more it seems like they may be the right balance for me. Easilly modable to 400whp, 3800 lbs so it isn't extremely heavy and nice interior and ride.

Alright, got a little ways tonight but didn't get to drive the Evo as it was pouring by the time I got over there. The 335xi wasn't running right, it was missing on a cylinder. The ride is very planted and composed like only BMW can seem to do. Interior was decent. One 335i I looked at was at a Nissan dealership so I decided to check out the G37x again since they had several.

The interior in this one was fine, the only thing I can think of is the seat was adjusted all goofy in the first one I sat in. I took it for a test drive and was amazed at the response of the engine, it is immediate. The handling was good (it wasn't a sport) and steering was quick, dartier than the BMW. Not that either was bad, just different. I will have to test drive a 335xi that is running decent to really tell.

So not much accomplished tonight except the G37x is back on the list and towards the top too. They have a G37xS coming in and are going to call me when it gets there in a week or so.

Nice! Jana and I both love ours and the xS is fun. Sportier seats & paddles.

Glad you tried the g37 again, they are nice. But if you like it, then how can you consider the SHO too large? They are full size sedans (I.e. Maxima, Avalon, Impala, Genesis, etc).

Either way, of all cars I've had as rentals for the past 8 years, the g37x was my favorite and is responsible for me wanting more torque and getting out of the 4cyl (dsm) game.

One reason, the SHO is over 500lbs heavier than the G37x. 4,388lbs isn't going to cut it. It is also 16" longer and 7" wider. I wish they made a SHO Fusion, LOVE the looks of the new Fords.

How about a Prius?

I am too scared I would mod it too much!
