Wow, cool technology.

I think the opposite since it helps with emissions, mileage, etc which are in line with 2016 CAFE standards.

This is an honest question, what about hydrogen powered cars then?
It seems like this would be the best alternative, but no-one would be able to make money off it like they do with oil so we don't hear about it.

Hopefully someone can educate me.

Storage and infrastructure are the huge issues with hydrogen. Have you seen one of those hydrogen "gas tanks"? Current pipelines don't work for hydrogen either.

I personally think the main reason is the lack of profit behind it.

Hydrogen and this free valve technology are mutually exclusive-- this impacts the contruction and operation of an internal combustion engine, no matter what fuel is being used. It already seems clear that there's no silver bullet to solving for the 2016 CAFE standards-- engine technology, fuel technology, hybrid technology, aerodynamics, materials, weight, etc. are all being considered.

That said, I'm not deeply knowledgeable about alternative fuels and advancing automotive technologies, and I really don't want to be at the start of, or center of, a politically-charged debate about things for which I have limited knowledge and zero control. (More simply, I don't wanna debate this.)
