G35x supercharged or turbo would be a very fun dd. I love my maxima but the next car I buy will be a g35x manual. I love the vq motors. I think its a car guy thing when we hear any noise we start to wonder whats up.

Skyline gearbox?

FYI AWD isn't the end all for everything, i know some evo/dsm/suby guys have a hard time believing this.

I like how some people on here assume because I think AWD is good, which I never even mentioned in the quote, I somehow think RWD can't be done.

So you honestly think a 3200lb 2 seater that is RWD is a good winter car? I was just saying its a bad winter vehicle because it is. Even with snow tires it will suck. Traction control isn't gods gift to man.

When Knoxville had to drive his g8 in the snow we couldn't get up hills, slid everywhere and traction control just cut power...his car was a 4000 lb sled that was worthless in 2in of snow. The corvette would be exponentially worse.

Could you drive it, sure, would I, no. I am simply saying its impractical in MN.
I agree with this approach. While everyone is different, I find that saving the fun car for recreational driving leads to a much fuller experience.

I had to DD my talon for two weeks when my commuter went down this spring. By the end of the two weeks, I was really board of the car (satisfied by need for speed in the first few days) and could only focus on the drivability issues.

If a car is build for performance, and only use that performance for a limited mount of the time you are in it, the whole situation seems sub-optimal.

Bingo :)

While I drive my fun car most of the time when it's not in storage, I also only have a 2 mile commute so it's not a chore to drive to work. I would consider the fun car my DD for 2/3 of the year, and the escort my DD in winter. Works for me, I was never really worried about the CTS-V, Corvette, and now the Lotus for reliability, but they are much newer cars than my DSM.

I agree with Murlo on the vette not being a year round vehicle. I had blizzaks on the Cadillac and that thing sucked to drive if there was snow on the road, I imagine the Vette would be worse. I stored the Cadillac the next winter and sold the snow tires.

Yep, 1st hand experience. Even with snow tires, with snow on the ground they suck. v8 torque isn't good for getting traction.

I'd have to agree with Paul, I'd love a G35x or G37x as a DD. Hell part of me still wants to build a G35x coupe GTR killer :D

Today i drove it to work and well the drive in was ok, but drive home was boring all I could do was look at the C6 z06 and 600 rocket.

I guess a good daily would have enough getup to change lanes and merge into moving traffic but being comfy.

DSM is comfy though, I guess I'll just drive it when I know I'll go somewhere straight from work or something.

I did get to watch 1 accident and a couple of incidents where people almost got rear ended, makes me feel better about having a beater car for dd duties.
