Especially since you're outsourcing the work, I'd suggest looking into Polyurea instead of Epoxy, if you haven't already.

What is that?

What is that?

It's a type of floor coating which was most popular for industrial applications and is now becoming more and more popular for residential. It's stronger than epoxy, more flexible (allowing it to be more impact-resistant and less prone to chips or dents), and less prone to damage or marking from hot tires or corrosive fluids. It dries pretty quickly though which makes it harder for the DIYer to apply correctly. I believe it's more costly to install than Epoxy but I'm not 100% sure.

RockSolid (https://www.rocksolidfloors.com/) is the most common consumer brand/ application I've seen but I'd bet there are other brands used by professional installers.

This is the extent of my knowledge as I've only loosely read about it with the interest of my own garage in mind. I don't have firsthand experience which is why suggested Halon look further into it.

I've found good conversations about it, and loads of other garage products, on GarageJournal.com. Again, no affiliation.

Just spoke with that place I linked to above. They sent me to this link:

http://www.garagefloorcoatingofmn.com/color-samples-minneapolis-garage-floor-coating.html

Rough estimate he gave me was:
Silver = $3500
Gold = $4000
Platinum = $4500

Holy yuck, that's some serious cashola. I think I'm going to keep looking for more quotes. I'm just very hesitant to use the off the shelf stuff from Lowe's. Just don't trust it to last for a long time. In 5 years I don't want it to be total crap looking, and wishing I would have had it done professionally in the first place.

Mine was at the 3-4 yr mark and the only bad was the damage that I did to it.

No obvious/weird fades, dulls, anything to report as far as wear goes. I mean it was like carpet though where if you moved the shelfs you could see where traffic was, but that was about it.

For cost to quality ratio I don't know if it can be beat, the other stuff is $300/500 sq ft.

My dad and I used this on his new 1000 sq ft garage and it has held up great over the past 5 years. The key is prep, prep, prep. Hopefully they haven't put a sealant on your concrete yet.

I am doing my in the next couple of weeks, but my garage floor is 40 years old. So I will be renting a diamond bit grinder to prep the surface.

I hope this helps.
