ive had my car insurance with american family for around 5 years. i called them today to see if i could get a quote for a 1998 ninja 250. he tells me that the they wont insure those type of bikes. wtf, its only a 250. i could see if it was a gsxr 750. is this the way most insurance places are? i got an online quote from progressive for something like $300 a year with liability only. can anyone suggest any places to check or should i just go with progressive?

i am looking into getting a 600 of some sort, and i checked out progressive online, and liability was 10$ a month i believe. i think for full coverage for me it would be 300 a month, so when i DO get my bike, im just gonna be really careful to not drop it or anything.
State Farm is the only decent place for bike coverage. They will not cover you if you have over 2 tickets in 3 years and sometimes won't take you on unless you only have 1 or none.

State Farm has been great to me. $180/year for my Ninja 250R and now $240/year for my Ninja 500R. They charge based on CC size, not style of bike.

BTW, I used to have a '98 250R and I loved that bike. Bought it at 3k, sold it at 13k and never had a problem with it. I think i replaced the tires around 10k, put in new spark plugs, and that was all.

Ummm, it appears he purchased the bike with 3,000 miles, replaced the tires at 10,000 miles, and sold it at 13,000 miles. ;)

I got a '94 750 Magna. AmFam is 150 for the year with only liability. It's not a sport bike though....
