So, I'm moving to Okinawa, Japan and I'm trying to figure out some possible options for when I get there. I've seen a few EVOs over there like this one, anyone know much about them?

Just speculation since Ive never been there, but I thought they had to pull cars off the road after a certain amour of miles. That's why you always see low mileage JDM motors.

you still can have the older cars you just pay more in taxes to keep them on the road.

Yea...I'm pretty sure that is a lie. There's a ton of old cars on Okinawa. So, I'm looking at this on friday: http://okinawa.bookoo.com/item26284415.html?itemId=26284415&src=SEARCH

The dude is putting in a new ACT clutch this weekend. Anything specific I should keep an eye out for? Is it true these have the same engines as DSMs? So is reliability potentially an issue? This one is completely stock except for Cat back exhaust and an intake and the clutch...TKrPerformace, what do you use for tuning?

Thanks!

Okinawa may be different because of the US base but generally TkrPerformance is right - the older the car the more tax you pay. If you can legally import them & have a use for them there are great buys on low mileage cars/vans/trucks. Generally that works out best for Australians and Canadians. I thought I could import one to the Philippines but NO, I was suprised to discover RHD vehicles are ILLEGAL there! Oh well...

Evo 1-3 share the same motor as 2g's. IV-VIII have the same motor afaik, then IX's have MIVEC.

Hmm...I went on my favorite JP used car site and noted that Evo IIIs were generally quite a bit more than IVs. So if the IVs have an improved engine, it makes me wonder why they have a lower resale value??
