View Full Version : Ralliart Air Intake Placement

So, one major difference I've notice from staring at Evos and RA's all day at work is the placement of the RA's intake, filter and MAF.

In the RA, the stock intake goes over the battery and back a little ways, where as in the Evo, the air filter is basically right where you would expect it to be, in the front.

I plan to put an new intake on my car. But what I'm wondering is if it's worth it to move my battery to the trunk and put the intake closer to the front of the car or not.

Or, is there a way to pipe an intake somewhere else so that it is closer to the front bumper?

AMS makes a RA specific intake, anyone else?

AEM also makes a RA specific one. But I believe both just sit where the stock drop in filter is now. What I'm wonderering is if its worth it to move the battery to the trunk and move the intake further up towards the bumper.

I'd take the AEM intake over the AMS due to MAF pipe diameter; plus it's boxed helping keep heatsoak down at the back of the engine bay. Honestly, moving the air filter won't really do much assuming your intercooler is operating efficiently, but taking the weight (battery) off the front wheels will do more. If you moved the battery I'd imagine you could run an intake designed for the X.

Speaking of intercoolers, may I suggest you at least upgrade to a stock X FMIC?
