My personal favorite design for a DSM with a stock ECU is still a sealed dual catch can setup. You put one between the PCV and intake manifold. And a second one between the VC and the Intake. Exact setup I ran, except mine was a single catch can that had two separate chambers inside. That way there is at least some sort of vacuum helping draw air out at all times.

They make Vacuum pumps for this. A friend of mine is going to be trying it on his MR2, don't need to screw with the intake then.
