I am in the process of rebuilding my car and one of the pieces of major concern is the tranny. I was planning on sending mine off to shep. But I was wondering if there was a reputable place in minnesota that could do the same rebuild at about the same price range. I'm not trying to be cheap. I just wanted to keep the turnaround time to a minimal. And it's nice to keep the work local if you ask me. Is there any ideas fellas? any info is greatly appreciated.

I have mine at TRE right now. They have a good reputation and the pricing seems fair and on track with others when comparing. You could check with QPR.

p.s. Moved to "The Parking Lot"

I think Rick Shindley charges $150 for a rebuild. You bring him the tranny and parts. I went with TRE parts and brought it to him, the trans is excellent.

QPR can rebuild trannys. Mike and Josh are both able to do it. You can PM nightrider, raptor, or dsmstyle on here for more info.

ahhhhh no more trannies!! LOL. If you want it built by some of the top trannys guys definatly go with Shep or TRE. If you buy the parts and want to save a bit of cash on the assembly give Shindley a buzz. We are also able to do trannies at QPR, but it would be a while till be could even touch it. I am actually not sure if Elite does much for tranny work. But you can call them as well.

A true test comes of QPR built trany when i get my car back together..

I had them rebuild my 2g fwd trany, with Quaife and a few other TRE parts, it held up very well for the 5 runs i did at the track before my clutch burned up. Now that i have a 2600 we'll see how it holds up.

Let you know in a few weeks when the clutch/engine breaks in if the engine doesn't break first..

I'm not really trying to save money as much as hassle. I could hand deliver it to whatever shop in Min. but it can be a hassle shipping the trans. Just trying to save some hassle. And like I said, I'd like to give some of you all some buisiness.

Not to mention, it would be a very nice reason to take a day off of work and take a trip on down to see some fellow DSM'ers at work.

Contact TRE. They can send you a padded shipping box and arrange the pick up by UPS for you.
