View Full Version : Some Issues I'd Like to Figure Out

Hey guys...haven't posted in awhile. But I've had some recent issues with my 98 GSX. I'll do my best to explain them and hopefully maybe some answers come back

First off is me not being able to build more than like 2lbs of boost. I'll post a video showing what happens but when I get into boost it just starts like popping and won't build anymore boost. It does the same if I try and brake boost as well. We did a boost leak test and found one leak but might have another one possibly (actual tester had a small leak in it also, so couldn't hear the best).

Second is my shift knob. While in gear mainly 1st and 2nd there is A LOT of play, its not solid at all.

And lastly is my clutch pedal, after being depressed and if I lift my foot up it takes like 3/4 of a second to come all the way back up, I'm pretty sure it should come up faster than that.

Well let me know if you have any ideas for any of my issues and thanks for reading.

Air in the line or possible clutch slave/master leak?

Are you running a MAF? Is it draw through or blow through setup. How big is your boost leak? What's that check engine light?

Figure out what the cel is for then try another boost leak test

CEL is for TPS and O2 sensors. We cleared those and it still did the same thing.

I am surprised the car even runs with bad TPS. Replace it.

Why would you clear the CEL and not fix the issue. Fix the known issues first before trying to get help on your problem.

#1 Fix 02
#2 Fix TPS
#3 Fix ALL boost leaks

and then come back and tell us how things are running.

Are you still running the stock T25? I have seen that turbo sometimes have a weird issue where if there is enough play in the wastegate flapper shaft hole, the wastegate flapper gets jammed open. Something to check, perhaps.

But i'll echo 95TalonRacer, even if the problems seem unrelated, fixing all known issues (CELs, boost leak, whatnot) will make your problem solving easier and more straightforward.

They put a different TPS in and it still did it. As far the the O2 sensors we haven't replaced those yet. Probably the next thing to try.

02 sensor is key
